83 ESF+ Contracts for active ageing: More than 50.000 pensioners will be included in the Programme throughout Croatia
The Contracts worth more than 22,5 million Euros were awarded in Zagreb. The CSOs will implement with those funds active ageing programmes aiming at increasing the quality of life and social inclusion of the elderly.
Within the Call for strengthening the civil society organisations, 83 Contracts worth 22.526.959,95 Euros from ESF+, were handed on Monday in Zagreb at Lauba. The projects will include more than 50.000 pensioners and elderly people through hundred thousand activities throughout Croatia. The Call “Strengthening the CSOs capacities for the implementation of Active Ageing Programme” was designed, inter alia, to integrate the elderly and pensioners into the life of the community and to prevent their isolation and retreat into their own four walls.The gathered guests and Beneficiaries were welcomed by the Minister of Labour, Pension System, Family and Social Policy Alen Ružić, who emphasized that the awarded contracts are aimed at encouraging programmes and projects of civil society, primarily encouraging healthy and active ageing. The attendees were also addressed by Marko Pavić, Head of the Croatian Parliament Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Vicko Mardešić, authorized to perform the duties of Director of the Directorate for European Union Programmes of the Ministry of Labour, Pension System, Family and Social Policy, Cvjetana Plavša Matić, Director of the National Foundation for the Civil Society Development (NFCSD), Helena Beus, authorized to perform the duties of the Head of the GOfNGOs, Luka Bogdan, Deputy Director of the NFCSD and Višnja Fortuna, President of the Croatian Association of Retired Persons.
The event was jointly organised by the GOfNGOs, NFCSD and the a.m. Ministry. The Minister Ružić pointed out that the investment into infrastructure for elderly people and pensioners is going on with the construction of the Centres for elderly throughout Croatia.
