Invitation to propose candidates for the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) members from the civil society organisations (CSOs)

In accordance with the Decision on the procedure for appointing members from the Republic Croatia to the European Economic and Social Committee (OG 028/2013), the GOfNGOs publishes the Invitation to propose candidates for three EESC members from the Croatian CSOs.
 
In the EESC, counselling body that gathers representatives of organised civil society (CS) from all of the EU member countries the Croatia has 9 representatives: 3 representatives of employers, 3 unions representatives and 3 from other associations, i.e. CSOs that represent interests of various social groups.

At the request of the Ministry of Labour, Pension System, Family and Social Policy, as the body responsible for coordination process for proposing and nominating of Croatian representatives in the EESC, the GOfNGOs in the cooperation with the Council for the Civil Society Development will implement the selection procedure of the CSOs representatives to the EESC membership. According to the a.m. Ministry’s instruction all candidates have to meet the following conditions and criteria:
  • Experience in the EESC working area
  • Professional experience
  • Personal motivation
  • Knowledge of foreign language and communication skills
  • Availability to participate in meetings
  • Knowledge of EU institutions and the way of making decisions in the EU
 
The Gender equality principle will be taken into account in the selection.
 
When proposing candidates, the CSOs should take into account that the proposed candidates meet conditions proscribed by the provisions of the Chapter III. Article 300. Item 2 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the EU (TFEU) (EESC consists of the organisations of employers and employees representatives and other civil society representatives, especially those from social and economic, civic, professional and cultural area).
 
The candidacy should contain:
  • Completed Nomination Form (the part of this Invitation) from the CSO that proposes the candidate
  • The candidate CV (Europass format) in Croatian and English
The candidacy submitted only on the following e mail address will be considered as correct: savjet@udruge.vlada.hr until 13 June 2025 at noon inclusive. Please state in the subject of the e mail Candidacy for EESC.
 
The Council for the Civil Society Development will vote for the selection of the three CSOs candidates from the Republic of Croatia to the EESC membership.

The EESC members do not receive salary for their work, but their travel and accommodation expenses are reimbursed. It is expected from the candidates to be ready to combine the work in Croatia and in EESC in Bruxelles (at least one week per month), as well as constant communication to EESC and CSOs in Croatia.
