The ESF + promotional event aimed at sport, STEAM and active community involvement was held in the Park Opatovina
The ESF+ promotional event organised jointly by the Ministry of Labour, Pension System, Family and Social Policy, the Ministry of Tourism and Sport, the Government Office for Cooperation with NGOs and the National Foundation for the Civil Society Development, was held on Thursday, 21 May 2026, at the Park Opatovina in Zagreb.
The event brought together a number of visitors, children and young people, representatives of civil society organisations (CSOs) and ESF+ project beneficiaries. The event was organised with the purpose of promoting projects aiming at involving children and young people at risk of social exclusion in sports, strengthening the CSOs capacity for active ageing and the promotion of STEAM fields.
The State Secretary in the Ministry of Labour, Pension System, Family and Social Policy Ivan Vidiš and the State Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism and Sport Josip Pavić welcomed people gathered in the Park Opatovina. Helena Beus, authorised to perform the duties of the Head of the GOfNGOs and Luka Bogdan deputy Director of the NFCSD were also attended at the event.
During the programme a number of sports and STEAM workshops were held, as well as the ESF+ and beneficiaries activities were presented. Also, the visitors had an opportunity to participate in the exercising with the children led by the coach Mario Mlinarić.
The Croatian Olympic representatives Damir Martin, Nikolina Ćaćić, as well as Ivana and Josipa Jurković gave a special atmosphere with their arrival aiming at supporting the promotion of sport, health way of living and including children and youth into sport activities.
The Park Opatovina thus became the space for meetings, education, sports and community for one day, confirming the importance of ESF+ projects in creating a more inclusive and active society.
