Due to the need of harmonising the Croatian legislation with that of the EU (in all areas including finance, accountancy and tax) the need for briefing the civil society organizations as to the developments in financing and accountancy as well as planning, reporting and tax news has been recognized. As a consequence, on the 15th February 2011, the Croatian Government Office for Cooperation with NGOs along with the Council for Civil Society Development organised Consultations in the fields of Finances, Accountancy, Planning and Reporting as well as the Tax System for Civil society Organisations.
The Consultations were held in the Large auditorium at Croatian Association of Technological Culture in Dalmatinska Street 12 in Zagreb. The Consultation was intended for civil society organisation representatives, which are in charge of finances, accountancy, planning, reporting and the tax system in their respective organisations.
In the first part of the consultations Ms. Ivana Jakir Bajo, head of the Department for executing the state budget at the Ministry of Finance, and a member of the Council for the Development of Civil Society, gave an insight into the Law on fiscal sturdiness. She also spoke about topics such as how to produce a financial budget plan for non-profit organisations, how to harmonise the statute of the organisation with legal amendments regarding finances and accountancy of non profit organisations as well as on topics regarding closing annual accounts and instructions of the Ministry of Finance for compiling annual financial reports for 2010. She also took the opportunity to answer numerous questions.
In the second part of the Consultations, Ms. Marija Zuber, an advisor and editor in a specialist magazine “Accountancy and finances”, spoke of the latest developments in the tax system for non-profit organisations. She also responded to questions about payments and secondary income in 2011, annual income tax reporting for 2010 and VAT for non-profit organisations.
