Regional Europe for Citizens Forum Held

 

 On 18 November 2011 the Government Office for Cooperation with NGOs organized a Regional Europe for Citizens Forum in Zagreb. The aim of the Forum was to bring together the representatives of civil society organizations and local and regional self-governments from countries participating in Europe for Citizens programme from the region as well as from countries which are about to join the Programme – namely Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Hungary, Macedonia, Slovenia, Serbia. The participants discussed the challenges and possibilities that participation in Europe for Citizens programme brings as well as their previous experience and forthcoming cooperation within the Programme.

 

 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
The participants were informed about the calls for project proposals which will be opened within Europe for Citizens programme in 2012, and introduced to basic information about eligibility for participation. The following participants shared their experiences with project implementation within Europe for Citizens programme: Mr. Miklos Barabas, Europe House, Hungary, Mr. Petar Čavlović, city of Varaždin, Croatia, Mrs. Valentina Disoska, Association of Journalists for Human Rights, Macedonia and Mrs. Klara Kržišnik, Geoss Association, Slovenia. The discussion focused on the ways of establishing sustainable European project partnerships while other aspects of implementation of Europe for Citizens programme were also touched upon, ranging from the application process, administrative project management and difficulties in ensuring co-financing and finding sufficient funds for project implementation to final payments.
 
 
 
The Forum was an opportunity for making new direct contacts, establishing potential partnerships in forthcoming calls for proposals as well as for project idea exchange, which increases the possibility of successful participation in the Programme for the countries in the region.
