At its today’s session the Government of the Republic of Croatia adopted the amendments to the Rules of Procedure which further affirm the Code of Practice on Consultation with the Interested Public in the procedures of adopting laws, other regulations and acts. Having adopted said amendments the Government ensures the potential for strengthening citizens’ trust in political procedures and institutions as well as for enhancing the quality of regulations thereby contributing to stronger prevention of corruption.
Specifically, in the amendments to the Government Rules of Procedure public consultation and reporting on the results of consultation are stipulated as an integral part of the process of making political decisions on the national level. New provisions in the Rules of Procedure now oblige central state administration bodies to submit adequate reports on conducted consultation together with draft laws, other regulations and acts upon referring them to the Government procedure. This is in line with the special regulation i.e. the Code of Practice on Consultation with the Interested Public in the procedure of adopting laws, other regulations and acts.
Hereby the Government of the Republic of Croatia fulfilled its obligations assumed under the Action Plan for the Implementation of the Open Government Partnership initiative in the Republic of Croatia from 2012-2013 (measure 9, implementing activity 9.1) and the National Strategy for the Creation of an Enabling Environment for Civil Society Development 2012-2016 (measure 7, implementing activity 7.1).
