Signed the Framework Agreement for the second round of the Swiss contribution between the Republic of Croatia (RoC) and the Swiss Confederation

On 18 October 2022, in the National and University Library in Zagreb, the ceremony of signing the Framework Agreement between the Government of the RoC and the Federal Council of the Swiss Confederation on the implementation of the second Swiss contribution in the selected EU member countries with the aim of reducing economic and social inequalities in the European Union took place.

The amount of 45,8 million Swiss francs was ensured by this Framework Agreement for the continuation of the activities that contribute to the economic and social cohesion in Croatia. The funds are intended for financing of the programmes and projects in the areas of research and inovation in the business and sicience sectors (8 million Swiss francs), water supply and drainage (23 million Swiss francs), health and social care (5.5 million Swiss francs) and the civil society (7,62 million Swiss francs), and the bilateral cooperation with Switzerland will be realized through partner exchange of knowledge and experience in the mentioned areas.
 
As part of the event also the film on the Swiss-Croatian Program of Cooperation 2014-2024 was shown and the panel with the representatives of the beneficiary institutions was held when the current results under the first Swiss-Croatian Program of Cooperation was presented. In addition, the area of investment within the second Swiss contribution was briefly presented.
 
The Ambassador of the Swiss Embasy, his Excellency Urs Hammer, delegate of the Croatian Government and the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman, the minister of regional development and EU funds Nataša Tramišak, high representatives of the Swiss Confederation as well as other important guests attended the event. In her speech the minister Tramišak pointed out that the projects will be implemented till 2029 and that, among other things, with the help of the Government Office for the Cooperation with NGOs, those organisations that contribute the most to strengthening civil society through the transfer of the experience of partner organisations from Switzerland will be reached.
 
This event also marked 30 years of diplomatic relations between the RoC and the Swiss Confederation so the participants and the public were invited to visit the exhibition of the projects financed within the first Swiss-Croatian Programme of Cooperation that will take place from 23 to 27 October 2022 in the park Zrinjevac in Zagreb.
