We thank to all associations for joining the manifestation as well as the citizens that showed the interest for the associations' work.
On the occasion of the manifestation NGO Open Days 2023 holding throught Croatia from 1 to 3 June, the Government Office for Cooperation with NGOs (GOfNGOs) organised conference „Role and contribution of associations for improving the capacities and developing skills of CSOs and their beneficiaries at the labour market - challenges and opportunities“.
At the beginning of the conference with the live video transmission, the participants in the hall were welcomed by Helena Beus, authorised to perform the duties of the director of the GOfNGOs.
The vice-president of the Government, Anja Šimpraga opened the conference. Also, welcome speeches were given by the state secretary in the Ministry of Foreign and EU Affairs Andreja Metelko-Zgombić, the state secretary in the Ministry of Labour, Pension System, Family and Social Policy, Margareta Mađerić, and Alena Marković, head of the Sector in the Ministry of Justice and Public Administration. After that two presentations and projects examples videos were held and the panel discussion titled „Role and contribution of associations in developing skills needed for labour market and opportunities for progress“.
The conference panelists were Marijana Ivanov, professor form the Faculty of Economy in Zagreb, Dario Baron from the Ministry of Labour, Pension System, Family and Social Policy and Darko Ciglar from the ACT Group.
As part of the panel „Role and contribution of associations in developing skills needed for labour market and opportunities for progress“, Marijana Ivanov, emphasised the importance of financial literacy and adaptation in the educational system from the earliest kindergarten age to higher institutions. Dario Baron from the mentioned Ministry presented the system of vouchers that will be available for the CSOs and Darko Ciglar from the ACT Group presented the Academy of Business Skills intended to CSOs.

The citizens had the opportunity this year to participate in 245 different events organised by the associations. The overview of the events applied in the frame of the NGOs Opent Days 2023 is available at the application

Through a series of creative workshops, lectures, performances, actions and in various other innovative ways, associations presented theirs service learning projects and programmes as well as volunteering opportunities for interested citizens. By participating in their activities, citizens could gain an insight into the wide range of activities carried out by associations and motivate themselves for active engagement in their local communities, either as users of services, or as volunteers, and ultimately as organisers of these same activities next year.
