International Conference “From vision to change: towards 2030”

The Conference contributed to the thinking what should be done in the next 5 years in order to achieve the UN Goals of Sustainable Development and the Agenda 2030.

The International Conference “From vision to change: towards 2030” organised by the National Foundation for the Civil Society Development (NFCSD) was held from 26 to 28 November in Zadar. It represents a kind of continuation of the Conference “Civil Society 2030: HR-EU Euro Mediterranean" held on 2019. This year Conference tried to offer answers on what should be done in the next 5 years in order to reach the UN Goals of Sustainable Development and the Agenda 2030.

The Conference was opened with the welcoming speeches by Mladen Klanac, Head for Social Welfare and Health in the City of Zadar and the mayor Šime Erlić delegate, by Cvjetana Plavša-Matić, Head of the NFCSD and Helena Beus, authorised to perform the duties of the Head of the Government Office for Cooperation with NGOs (GOfNGOs). The introduction part was dedicated to a presentation of the frame within which the key topics for the civil society development and inter sectoral cooperation will be discussed in the next days.
 
On the first day, a number of international presentations by the experts from Europe, Africa and America containing actual perspectives related to the sustainable development, social innovations, philanthropy and new models of economy was held. The presentation were held by Her Excellency Marija Pejčinović Burić, former Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Her Excellency Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca (Malta Foundation for Wellbeing of Society), PhD Colin Habberton (Relatomics Foundations), Adriano Bisello (Eurac Research), professor Stephanie Fischer (American University), Hanna Surmatz (PHILEA - Philanthropy Europe Association) and Rephaela Tončić-Sorinj (Ashoka).

The video taken at the first Conference “Civil Society 2030” including the visions of the attendees of the Conference held on 2019 was shown. In addition, Dražen Šimleša, the representative of the Centres of Knowledge for Sustainable Development in the Republic of Croatia and Ines Katić from the NFCSD presented successes during last six years. They presented the progress in the civil society development, in the building of the organisational capacities, digital transformation, as well as the progress in inter sectoral cooperation in their review.
 
The second day of the Conference continued with the parallel thematic workshops on the civil society development, social entrepreneurship, local communities’ sustainable development, as well as the Council for the Civil Society Development session.
 
The last day of this International Conference was dedicated on marking the International Day of Mediterranean. That included the panel-discussion on challenges on the Euro-Mediterranean and the Programme iM:PACT - Innovations for Mediterranean, including the Zadar Declaration “Let’s act FOR the Mediterranean”.
