116 006 line with more than 16.000 answered calls presents a “safe” place for all people who have experienced some kind of traumatic act, but still found the strength and to ask for support.

The installation “116 006: CHANGE BEGAN WITH A CALL” has been presented in the Museum of Broken Relationships in Zagreb, on 23 November 2023, as the part of the Nacional Call Centre for Victims of Crimes and Offences campaign. The goal of this campaign is to additionally raising media and public visibility of the NCC line in order to inform as many of our citizens as possible on their rights as well as on availability to the support.
The event was also the opportunity to marking the International day of fight against violence on women (25 November). Also, free and anonymous 116 006 line of the Nacional Call Centre for Victims of Crimes and Offences is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year.

On the other end of the phone, day and night, on weekends and holydays, are the experts and volunteers of the Association for Support to Victims and Witnesses who provide the callers with the necessary information, a confidential conversation, an understanding of the situation they find themselves in and the belief that they do not have to deal with the consequences that painful events can leave behind.

Unfortunately, due to the visible alarming trend of the increase of in criminal offenses in the area of criminal protection of children and families and the brutalization of domestic violence in recent years, which has resulted in one woman being physically abused in Croatia every 15 minutes, this line is most often called by women. Finally, this campaign of the Association for Support to Victims and Witnesses is one of the three winners of the public call award “Communication Support for Socially Beneficial Programmes of Associations”, which is announced every year by the Office for Associations.
