28 million of kunas for civil society organizations which care for the most vulnerable and for CSOs' innovative projects at the local level

Today, on 22th of December 2014, in the premises of the Government of the Republic of Croatia, one hundred and three civil society organizations were awarded with the grant contracts within two grants schemes: Capacity Building of the Civil Society Organizations Active in the Field of Social Service Delivery and Micro projects of support to the innovative activities of small CSOs for local development. Both tenders are financed by the European Social Fund. The ceremony was organized by the Government Office for NGOs and the National Foundation for Civil Society Development.

Within the grant scheme Capacity Building of the Civil Society Organizations Active in the Field of Social Service Delivery, 96 project applications were received, and 30 of them were selected for funding after the assessment procedure. In the next 14 months the selected projects will be implemented in all counties, and in the long run they will contribute to decentralization and deinstitutionalization of social services, as well as to the development of services in the local community.

The aim of the other grant scheme Micro-projects of support to the innovative activities of small CSOs for local development is to strengthen the capacity of civil society organizations active in local communities. 41 project is awarded with the contract within this grant scheme, and they will be implemented in 17 counties, which will contribute to greater regional uniformity of distribution and financing of CSOs activities in Croatia.

As it was pointed out at today’s presentation, it is expected that the development of innovative social services and encouraging of development of civil society at the local level will improve the system of social protection in the Republic of Croatia and the involvement of citizens in community development.

The total value of contracted projects within both grant schemes is 27,830,722.77  kunas, with almost 100% utilization of funds in civil society organizations.
