Annual meeting of greatest world donors of funds for civil society development
Between 27 and 29 September, the annual meeting of the greatest world donors of funds for civil society development gathered around DECIM initiative, was held in Cavtat. Donor Exchange, Coordination and Information Mechanism – DECIM- in the filed of civil society development was initiated by the European Commission and World Bank a year ago. Government Office for Cooperation with NGOs participated in the organization of this meeting together with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
An international workshop on the subject of „The Role of the Donor Community in Supporting the Development and Execution of the Legal Framework for Civil Society Organizations in the Countries of the Soviet Union, Southeast Europe, Turkey and New Member Countries of the EU“ was held.
The objective of the workshop was to rouse interest of foreign donors, private funds and foundations supporting civil society in Croatia and the region. One of the major conclusions of the workshop refers to the importance of further donor investment into ongoing processes of creating a stimulative legal and institutional environment for civil society development. Donor agencies gathered around the DECIM initiative showed special interest for cooperation with the Government of the Republic of Croatia in the upcoming period with the aim of supporting the continuation of processes initiated on this territory.
