Consultative Meeting on the Implementation of the Law on Free Legal Aid

On 21 January 2008, the Ministry of Judiciary and the Office for Cooperation with NGOs organized a consultative meeting with the civil society organizations on the implementation of the Law on Free Legal Aid. The meeting was among others attended by the Minister of Judiciary, dr. Ivan Šimonović and the State Secretary in the Ministry of Judiciary, Mr. Zoran Pičuljan.

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the Draft Regulations on Evaluation of Projects and on the Mode of Reporting on the Implementation of Projects, which was sent to non-governmental organizations that were engaged in the process of adoption of the Law, in order to reassure its effective implementation. The meeting was also attended by 28 representatives from 20 non-governmental organizations. One of the conclusions of the meeting is that the civil society organizations should more frequently participate in the processes of consultation during the decision-making process.
