New Centre unique place in Croatia of bringing together STEM with culture and creativity
The mission of the Centre is to create a safe place for exploring and learning through mistakes in order to encourage curiosity and mistakes are seen not as failures but as opportunities for growth.
The Centre for Creativity and Science Popularisation - City of Grobnik, was opened on 12 September 2025 in the premises of the former regional school Grobnik by cutting of the ribbon.This is a unique project in Croatia and broaden region, which encompasses science, education, culture and history - with the aim of creating the space for interdisciplinary learning, developing of critical opinion, encouraging of creativity in children, youth, educators, and broader public.
In cooperation with domestic and international partners, the Centre will offer interactive workshops, exhibitions, lectures and programmes for pupils, students, professors and broader pubic. The attendees were welcomed by the Major of the Municipality of Čavle Ivana Cvitan Polić, the president of the National Foundation Advisory Board Dražen Vikić-Topić, head of the Government Office for Cooperation with NGOs Helena Beus, deputy prefect of the Primorje-Gorski kotar County Robert Matić, as well as the project conceptual initiator Krešimir Čanić and the Primary School Čavle Director Tanja Stanković.
The mission of the Centre is to create the place for exploring and learning through mistakes. The place where the curiosity has been encouraged and mistakes are seen not as failures but as opportunities for growth. In the Centre the interdisciplinary approach to the learning has been encouraged, relating STEM with creative workshops, focusing on asking right questions and making thoughtful decisions. The ribbon was symbolically cut by the Primary School’ Čavle pupils, Eva Dejmozes and Leon Pelčić with the Municipality Major Ivana Cvitan Polić, project manager Krešimir Čanić and robot Ben Ben.
