Associations throughout Croatia opened their doors to interested citizens during 3-days event NGO Open Days 2020.

This year again the Government Office for NGOs has organised NGO Open Days aiming to bring closer programs and projects of common good implemented by associations in Croatia to the citizens and wider public, by organising a range of different activities virtually, inside or outside by opening their doors to interested citizens.

By participating in the activities of associations, citizens had the opportunity to gain insight into a wide range of activities carried out by associations and get an incentive for permanent active engagement in their local communities, either as service users or as volunteers. This year, the emphasis was on virtual activities, but there were also live activities in various forms of sports playrooms, amateur radio courses, handicraft workshops, marked international days, volunteer actions, including a number of other interesting events available through the application of the UdrugeInfo.

As part of the NGO Open Day 2020, the Government Office for  NGOs organized virtual discussions aimed at discussing the role of civil society organizations in overcoming the consequences of crisis situations, especially in the context of mitigating the COVID-19 pandemic and the Zagreb earthquake.
The topic "Solidarity in practice - overcoming the consequences of crisis situations and the role of CSOs" was discussed by representatives of associations who gave examples of good practice in innovating solutions to problems caused by the coronavirus pandemic and the Zagreb earthquake.
In the second discussion on the topic "Support programs for civil society organizations in the context of the pandemic and the possibility of financing CSO activities from EU sources in the period 2021-2027", the possibilities of supporting civil society at the national level were examined in order to overcome the consequences and the response to the pandemic at national and European Union level, with reference to the possibilities contained in the Multiannual Financial Framework 2021-2027. The possibilities of involving associations in planning priorities for funding civil society organizations were discussed, and recordings from virtual discussions are available on the Youtube channel of the Government Office.

This year's "Walk through the History of Associations in Zagreb" the Government Office for NGOs has organized virtually in order to illustrate the rich history of associations in Zagreb that have significantly contributed to socio-economic development and laid the foundations of modern civil society. As part of the NGOs' Open Days 2020, the Government Office has created a quiz to examine on how much the public is aware of general information about the activities of associations in the Republic of Croatia. The NGOs' Open Days 2020 can also be followed on the Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/DaniUdruga where additional content on the activities of associations within the event is available.

Recordings from the events organized by the Government Office for NGOs as part of the NGOs' Open Days 2020 can be found on the Government Office Youtube channel. There are also videos of associations that sent them as part of the Public Invitation to associations to participate in the shooting of a promotional video to promote the visibility of the association and the event NGOs' Open Days 2020.
