ONLINE EVENT – Sinergy of the Union programmes at the European Heritage Days

The event is held in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture and Media and the Agency for Mobility and EU Programmes.

European cultural heritage is a rich and diverse mosaic of cultural and creative expressions, the legacy of previous generations of Europeans and the legacy of those yet to come. It unites the natural, built and archaeological sites, museums, monuments, works of art, historical cities, literary, musical and audio-visual works and the knowledge, practice and tradition of European citizens. Although the primary responsibility in the area of cultural heritage have the member states, regional and local authorities, the European Union advocates for its conservation through number of relevant politics and programmes created with that goal. In the Multiannual Financial Framework for the period 2021-2027, the cultural heritage is put in the focus and, more and more Union programmes are involved in supporting and building of capacities of the sector in order to adapt as more as possible to new creative processes, business models, market development and in ultimately accepted the digital and green transition.
 
The goal of the online event titled How does the EU support cultural heritage through Union programmes? is to inform and closely know stakeholders of cultural, creative and civil sector with the possibilities of financing the cultural heritage through the Union programmes: HORIZON EUROPE | CREATIVE EUROPE | CERV | ERASMUS+. On this occasion, basic information on each programme will be presented and information about currently available and announced tenders for which Croatian users can apply will be shared with the participants.
 
The Union programmes that will present the financing possibilities in the cultural heritage sector are as follows:

In this program period, the Creative Europe Programme – Culture sub-programme comprehends cultural heritage as a sectoral priority with the aim of strengthening the entrepreneurial and professional development capacities of artists, experts and the sector, through the most prominent call for European cooperation projects. The Culture sub-programme provide support also through promoting excellence and creativity in the form of cooperation, initiative and EU reward.

Horizon Europe programme is the EU framework programme for research and innovations for the period 2021-2027. Horizon Europe is one of the Union’s key instruments for strengthening the European Research Area, strengthening European competitiveness, directing and accelerating the digital and green transition, European recovery, preparedness and resilience. Preservation and improvement of European cultural heritage, and building of the cultural and creative sector, represent one of the main priorities of the Union within the thematic area of Cluster 2 – Culture, creativity and inclusive society in programme pillar II. “Global challenges and European industrial competitiveness”. This cluster contributes to solving current challenges facing cultural heritage, as well as European cultural and creative industries. Special emphasis is placed on the application of digital technologies in the processes of preservation and promotion of cultural heritage – the emphasis is on combining traditional craftsmanship, cutting-edge and digital technology for the preservation and restoration of cultural assets with innovative techniques in the cultural and creative industries, with the aim of encouraging and creating jobs and growth. In line with the process of digitalisation of heritage is the EU initiative for the establishment of a digital infrastructure Cloud for cooperation in the field of European cultural heritage for the purpose of preserving European cultural treasures, which is supported through tenders within Cluster 2. The goal of the Cloud is to promote cooperation and joint creation in cultural, creative and technological sector.
 
CERV Programme is the new and the most comprehensive Union programme that considers cultural heritage through the thematic area Involvement and participation of citizens aimed at marking key events in modern European history, including the causes and consequences of authoritarian and totalitarian regimes. It also aimed at raising awareness among European citizens about their common history, culture, cultural heritage and values, i.e. the importance of mutual understanding and tolerance.

Erasmum+ Programme is the biggest EU programme for education and training, youth and sport. Through Erasmus+ programme priorities, projects are supported that strengthen the understanding of citizens of all generations about cultural and historical heritage. For cultural institutions and other organisations active in the field of adult education, the programme provides opportunities to participate in learning mobility projects and collaborative partnerships.

The online event How does the EU support cultural heritage through Union programmes? will be held on Wednesday, 27 September 2023, starting at 10.30 a.m. and lasting 2 hours.
