Public Consultations Conducted on Draft Curriculum for Democratic citizenship Education
On Tuesday 21 February 2012 the Government Office for Cooperation with NGOs organized public consultations on the Draft Curriculum for Democratic Citizenship Education. The consultations were conducted in cooperation with the Ministry of Science, Education and Sport with the financial support of the EU under IPA 2009 Strengthening The Capacity of The Government Office for Cooperation with NGOs for Building Effective Partnership with Civil Society Organizations in the Fight against Corruption, implemented by PARTICIP GmbH.
The aim of the consultations was to introduce the draft Curriculum for Democratic Citizenship Education and open the floor for discussion on the topic and the contributions of all the stakeholders in this important area while ensuring the highest standards in conducting consultations with the interested public.
The opening addresses were given by Igor Vidačak, acting Head of the Government Office for Cooperation with NGOs, Ankica Nježić, Assistant Minister of Science, Education and Sport, and Zrinka Vrabec Mojzeš, Adviser to the President for Social Affairs. The draft Curriculum for Democratic Citizenship Education was presented by Vedrana Spajić Vrkaš from the Faculty of Philosophy University of Zagreb and Nevenka Lončarić Jelačić from Education and Teacher Training Agency. Answers to the questions that the participants had during the discussion were given by Eli Pijaca Plavšić from the Forum for Freedom in Education, Vini Rakić from the Ministry of Science, Education and Sport and Lana Velimirović from the Government Office for Human Rights. The representatives of civil society organizations, science and education institutions, embassies and the academic community took part in the discussions.
