Report on the work of the Council for Civil Society Development in 2014 adopted

At its session held on 7 May 2015, the Government of the Republic of Croatia adopted the Report on the work of the Council for Civil Society Development in 2014.
The Council for Civil Society Development is an advisory body to the Government of the Republic of Croatia acting towards developing cooperation between the Government with the civil society organisations in Croatia in the implementation of the National Strategy for Creating an Enabling Environment for Civil Society Development; the development of philanthropy, social capital, partnership relations and cross sector cooperation.

In 2014 five sessions were held, and focus of the Council work was on major normative amendments in the interest of civil society organizations' work, primarily the adoption of the Law on Associations (OG, 74/2014), Law on Financial Operations and Accountancy of Non-Profit Organisations (OG, 121/2014) and related sub-law acts, notably Rulebook on the content and on the means of conducting the Register of Associations of the Republic of Croatia and the Register of Foreign Associations in the Republic of Croatia and Regulation on the criteria, standards and procedures of financing and contracting programs and projects of interest to the public good implemented by associations. Moreover, continuous discussions have been made on the conditions of use of the EU funds for CSO programmes and projects. Furthermore, the Council sessions provided an opportunity for getting information on the work of the European Economic and Social Committee as formal institutional mechanism for civil society participation in decision making of European public policies. Finally, it has to be noted that the bodies of state authority, Government Offices or other public authority bodies, if necessary, submit their requests for nomination of CSO representatives in various commissions, advisory and working bodies, through the candidate process elaborated within the Council Rules of Procedure. According to the Rules, Council members inform CSOs active in their sectors / area of activities on the work of the Council.
