NGOs receive 5,6 mil. kuna from the EU IPA 2011 programme for fostering sustainable development of local community
Projects aimed at strengthening the capacities of civil society organisations with the purpose of implementing activities targeted at improving and enhancing the measures of nature protection into the local economic processes and processes of social development, through development of sustainable mutual and intersectoral partnerships, were presented today in the House of Europe in Zagreb.
Six projects worth 5,6 million kuna, were contracted in September, under the IPA 2011 grant-scheme “Supporting CSOs in Development of Partnerships for Sustainable Use of Protected Areas in Croatia, Including Potential NATURA 2000 sites”, financed by the EU and Government Office for Cooperation with NGOs funds.
Projects will be implemented in the next 8 months in 9 counties, by the NGOs active in the field of environmental protection as beneficiaries, acting in partnerships with other NGOs, public institutions, schools and units of local self-government.
As emphasized at today’s project presentation, it is expected that supporting partnerships of NGOs with public sector will contribute to a more successful management of natural resources.
Citizens’ participation in cooperation with the public sector will be supported as well, in order to stimulate local socioeconomic development based on principles of sustainable use of natural resources. Furthermore, development of tourism offer will be fostered, with the aim of strengthening the economic efficiency and creating significant opportunities for making sustainable “green” jobs.
