A public presentation of the contracted projects under the Swiss – Croatian Cooperation Programme was organised within the European Week of Sustainable Development, June 3, 2019.

There were 53 projects presented that are to be implemented within the Swiss – Croatian Cooperation Programme, with a public discussion focused on the role of civil society organizations in partnership for sustainable communities development.
The Government Office for Coopearation with NGOs has published two Calls for Proposals in June 2018.: "Strengthening the Contribution of Civil Society Organisations in Sustainable Development Education for the Improvement of Economic and Social Cohesion" and "Strengthening Croatian-Swiss Partnerships for Local Social and Economic Growth and Development”.

The aims of the Calls are to promote the contribution of civil society organisations to economic and social cohesion and sustainable development of local communities, and to improve local economic and social development in Croatia through cooperation and partnership between Croatian and Swiss institutions, local governments and civil society organisations.

The event was organised within the European Week of Sustainable Development, a European-wide initiative that is to stimulate and make visible activities, projects and events that promote sustainable development and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which takes place every year from 30 May until 5 June.

The Programme was introduced by Mrs. Helena Beus, Head of the Government Office for Cooperation with NGOs, H.E. Mrs. Emilija Georgiev Regamey, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Swiss Confederation, and Mr. Velimir Žunac, state secretary in the Ministry of Regional Development and EU funds, while representatives of NGOs Udruga za promicanje održivog načina življenja Gredica, Mreža udruga Zagor, Udruga Zelena mreža aktivističkih grupa – ZMAG, Udruga ODRAZ – Održivi razvoj zajednice, and Klaster Lika Destination, whose projects were evaluated with the highest scores during the evaluation process, participated in the discussion.

The representatives of the NGOs highlighted the importance of civil society organisations in the development and implementation of sustainable development policies, the design and implementation of innovation (social, cultural, economic), as well as in initiating partnership projects for sustainable development.

The Government Office for Cooperation with NGOs will monitor the progress of the projects in implementation, and report the public through its communication channels. For more information about the projects, please send an e-mail to svicarski.program@udruge.vlada.hr, or see here.
